.003 Package Denies Diaz in Dragster-Door Car Final at US 131 Motorsports Park

As the grandson of the owner of Mid-Michigan Motorplex, Lane Ledford obviously knows his way around a dragstrip.  He proved it Friday when he threw a .003 package at Jose Diaz of Parma, Ohio to win the $50,000 on the second day of the inaugural FTI Performance Summer Shootout at US 131 Motorsports Park.

Ledford earned his shot at the big money by beating Stephen McCrory of Taylorsville, GA, in the dragster final.  Meanwhile, Diaz stopped Nick Hastings of Shelby, Ohio in the door car final.

The biggest share of the purse posted by SFG Promotions, a whopping $100,000, will go to Saturday’s winner with another $50,000 earmarked for the champion on Sunday’s final day.

Friday was a big day for two-time US 131 track champion and current Lane Automotive Series point leader Donnie Hagar of Clark Lake who won the No Box race contested on Friday’s undercard and advanced as far as the semifinals in the door car portion of the big race before losing to Hastings by .007 of a second.

Will Holloman of Four Oaks, NC, also picked up a Friday win in the High Roller Racer in which he forced Antoine Jett of Mt. Laurel, NJ, into a final round breakout foul.
