This Friday and Saturday, August 6-7, the Northern Nationals returns to US 131 Motorsports Park and this includes Larry Dixon.  When Dixon is characterized as the “world’s fastest chauffeur,” it has nothing to do with his day job as driver of one of the world’s most powerful race cars and everything to do with his side hustle. A three-time former NHRA Top Fuel champion, four-time U.S. Nationals champ and winner of 62 NHRA tour events, Dixon will be the busiest man at the US 131 Northern Nationals Aug. 6-7, competing in his 330 mph dragster while also providing rides for a lucky few in his one-of-a-kind two-seat Top Fueler. A second generation Top Fuel racer whose dad won the 1970 Winternationals at Pomona, Calif., Dixon won NHRA series titles in 2002 and 2003 for car owner Don Prudhomme and crew chief Dick LaHaie and in 2010 for car owner Alan Johnson, crew chief Jason McCulloch and Sheik Khalid bin Hamad Al-Thani’s Al-Anabi team.
A cancer survivor who also has survived a couple of harrowing 300 mile-per-hour chassis failures, Dixon has some serious international cred, having lowered the official Australian national quarter mile record to 4.503 seconds at 332.18 mph while on a down under tour with Aussie-based Rapisarda Autosport International.
Plus nostalgia Funny Cars and fuel dragsters, Pro Mods, the Larsen Motorsports jets, Mike Kuntz’s wheelstanding P/T Cruiser, Jerry McCart’s “Homewrecker” jet and the Lane Automotive Bracket Series. It’s Northern Nationals 2021. Tickets available on-line, click here.
