Drag Racing, Roll Racing, Car Show Put Spotlight on New American Car Culture ~Drag racing featuring a pair of small tire shootouts, Heavyweight, Street Racer and Women & Wheels classes, roll racing, a car and truck show and all the other elements that drive the 21st century American car culture converge this week at US 131 Motorsports Park for Street Car Takeover presented by Katech.

Pre-registration is required for event.  Tech cards will not be available at the gate, with the exception of Test & Tune tech cards.  Testing is available onsite $60 for one day or $100 for both days.  Car and truck show entry fee is $35.

Roll racing, one of the most popular new versions of traditional two-car competition, takes center stage Friday with qualifying at 11 a.m. and eliminations starting at 1:30 p.m.  In simple terms, it’s old style drag racing with a rolling start and it has been trending upward for the last three years.

Friday evening, it’s back to the more traditional with qualifying for the heads up Street Racer and the female-centric Women & Wheels classes at 6:30 p.m. followed by a no-times-posted Small Tire Shootout starting at 7:30.

On Saturday, Street Car Takeover shares the spotlight with Car Show Takeover as vehicles of all shapes, sizes and origins try to catch the eye of show car judges in advance of the 5 p.m. awards presentation.

On track action begins with the second round of Street Racer qualifying at 12 noon followed by eliminations that will crown Street Car Takeover champions in the Monster Clutch Co. Unlimited Stick Shift, Extreme Street (10.0 target), Daily Driver (11.0 target), Mild Daily Driver (12.0 target), Heads Up FWD (front-wheel drive), Heavyweight, Small Tire (one-eighth mile, no times posted) and Street Racer.

The latter will be split into Wild, Mild and Daily classes based on two qualifying runs with payouts of $3,000, $1,500 and $1000, respectively.

Daily adult admission to Street Car Takeover is $30, $25 if ticket is purchased in advance.  Children 12 and under are free both days when accompanied by a ticketed adult.  VIP pit parking is available at a rate of $15 per vehicle Friday; $10 Saturday, parking is free in the spectator parking area.
