ROBERTS DOUBLES UP IN MIDWEST JR. DRAGSTER EVENT

Roloff, Oswald, Jensen, Scholten and Bode Also Score at US 131 Motorsports Park

MARTIN, Mich. – Monica Roberts of Troy was the only double-up winner as Michigan drivers took five of the 12 trophies in the Lucas Oil/Protect the Harvest Midwest Jr. Dragster Super Series event presented by Torrence Racing Saturday and Sunday at US 131 Motorsports Park.

Roberts won the 13-and-Up age group and then bested Brayden Louderville of Neenah, Wis., to claim the Diamond Pistons Sportsman title. Other Michigan winners were Vicksburg’s Conner Jensen, who slipped by Seth Jimenez of Waterford for the Pro Sportsman title, Hunter Scholten of West Olive, who won the 10-12 age group, and Evan Muchler of Grass Lake, who claimed Friday’s preliminary Gambler’s Race.

Scholten’s starting line advantage pushed Gaven Adams of Prophetstown, Ill., into a breakout foul that kept him from matching Roberts’ double win. He earlier had prevailed in the AllStar Performance 8.90 Index class.

David Roloff of Willowbrook, Ill., beat Muchler for the Quick 16 title, Mitchell Oswald of Springboro, Ohio edged Cory Zdancewicz of Frankfort, Ill., in the Outlaw 330 finale and Bobby Bode of Barrington, Ill., 17-year-old son of NHRA touring pro Bob Bode, Funny Car winner at Brainerd, Minn., in 2010, scored in the 7.90 Index class.
