Classic VW Car Show, Separate ‘All Others’ Car Show, Drag Racing, Roll Racing~ Slip into your favorite dirndl and lederhosen, order up some bratwurst and pretzels and load everyone into the VW bus because this Saturday US 131 Motorsports Park goes continental with the 17th renewal of Summer EuroFest presented by Latimore Racing Engines, a celebration of the European car culture and everything that goes with it.

For years, the event simply was identified as “The Bug Run” even though it included a car show and a host of other activities beyond the track itself.  However, increased interest from outside the Volkswagen community ultimately compelled organizers to expand participation to all automobiles of European origin.

So, whether you have a Bug or a Bugatti, Fiat or Ferrari, Saab or Citroen, think of US 131 as an American version of Spa-Francorchamps.

There’ll be drag racing, roll racing, a classic VW car show to honor the event’s roots, a car show for all other European makes and models, presented by German Auto Service, a swap meet and a host of vendors with parts and unique items to sell.

Spectator admission is $15 for adults; $5 for kids 6-12, but if you want to put your Porsche or your Peugeot on Michigan’s Fastest Track for fun runs outside of the organized racing program, you can do so for just $20.

The bracket class Super Pro/Pro will race for $500 to the winner, guaranteed by Latimore Racing Engines.  The winner of this class and the Street class will then have a race off for “Bren & Jerry’s Nice Dream” where the winner will earn $100 and the runner-up of each class will have a race off for $50, courtesy of fellow competitors Bren Hartman and Jerry Neidlinger.

Time trials will begin at 11 a.m. with racing at 12 noon.  Car show awards will be presented at 2:30 p.m. followed immediately by a “Best of Show and Top 20” parade down the quarter mile.
