NHDRO MID-SEASON NATIONALS THIS WEEK AT US 131

Midwest’s Largest Motorcycle Drag Racing Series Features 700 HP Suzukis~

The NHDRO motorcycle drag racing series featuring 700 horsepower turbo and nitrous-boosted Pro Street Suzuki Hayabusas, returns to US 131 Motorsports Park this week for the Mid-Season Nationals presented by Green Bay Anodizing.

Racing for points in the largest such series in the Midwest begins Friday with a test and tune session augmented by one round of qualifying in Pro Street, Pro Ultra 4.60, Top Gas (8.20 target), Quick Street (8.70), Super Comp (8.90) and Dirty 30 (8.30) followed by the series’ signature VooDoo Grudge Racing until midnight.

Saturday’s program will feature additional qualifying rounds in the premier categories plus racing in Pro ET, Street ET and Jr. Dragster followed once again by a VooDoo grudge session.  In addition, there will be four special events: a Super Comp Shootout, Road Course Shootout, True Hand Clutch Nitrous and All-Motor Shootout and a Stock Wheelbase Shootout.

Brad Christian of Brighton, IL, will defend his Pro Street title astride a turbo Haybusa although he’ll face challenges from Jeff Lindeman of Grosse Pointe Woods, Terry Hoke of Louisville, KY, Jimmy Muntain of Cleveland, OH, former Kawasaki engineer Josh Affholder of Kansas City, MO, Flint’s Les Stimac and the three-time former Southeast Motorcycle Drag Racing Association Top Gas Champion Deshawn Wheeler of Louisville, KY, whose son, Mika, and daughter, Courtney, also compete.

In the 4.60 class, defending champ Heath McQuinn of Middletown, OH, will duel with recent Indy winner Joey “Joey B” Brandgard of Dayton, OH and racing veteran “Smokin’ Joe” Rodney of Gallatin, TN, among others.  In addition to Lindeman and Stimac, the strong contingent of Michigan riders also includes Alexis Baker, many time champion Doug Fisher and his son, Tyler, all from Benton Harbor.

Gate admission is $40 for the weekend, $20 after 3pm Saturday or Sunday, $10 after 3pm Saturday or Sunday if one rides in on a motorcycle.  Children ages 12 and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult.
