Funny Car Nationals TeaserMARTIN, Mich. – Nitro Funny Cars, Jet Funny Cars, Alcohol Funny Cars, Wannabe Funny Cars, once were Funny Cars.  Funny Cars, Funny Cars and more Funny Cars.  It’s the 19th annual Honor Credit Union Funny Car Nationals, Sept. 8-9, at US 131 Motorsports Park.

In addition to all things fast-and-Funny, Michigan’s fastest track welcomes back the Larsen Motorsports jet dragsters, Rick Ream’s one-of-kind wheelstanding 1950 bullet-nose Studebaker firetruck, nitro-burning fuel altereds, the Pro Modifieds of the Mid-West Drag Racing Series and more than 75 vintage gassers, roadsters, dragsters and other assorted muscle cars racing for Nostalgia Drag Racing League championships.

Plus, for the first time, Rick “Hollywood” Kopp and his awesome “Bone Shaker” 1981 International Transtar 4300 jet truck powered down the quarter mile at more than 200 miles an hour by the same General Electric J79 turbojet used in the U.S. Air Force’s B-58 Hustler bomber as well as the F4 Phantom and the F-104 Starfighter.

MWDRS and NDRL qualifying Friday, eliminations Saturday.  The Studebaker, the jets, the fuel altereds and all those Funny Cars at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday.  Deep discount coupons at your local Honor Credit Union; $5 off on tickets purchased in advance on the US 131 website.  At the gate, adult tickets are $30 Friday; $35 Saturday.  Children 6-12 are $10 each day.  Children under six are free with a ticketed adult and, as always, every ticket includes pit access and free parking.
