Many-Time NHRA and IHRA Champ Tunes Up This Week’s JEGS/SFG $1.1 Million Event

Taking advantage of the opportunity to log some track time in advance of this week’s JEGS/SFG $1.1 million bracket race, many-time NHRA and IHRA World Champion Edmond Richardson of Greenbrier, Tenn., was among the winners in the IHRA Summit Sportsman Spectacular at US 131 Motorsports Park.

Richardson grabbed the Top ET title on Saturday when Mia Tedesco of Pittsburgh, Pa., jumped the start by .004 of a second and was DQed. Other Saturday winners were Shane Daugherty of Kokomo, Ind., who prevailed in Modified, Deana Sherbondy of La Porte, Peyten Jiminez of Waterford, Aurora Wanamaker of Plainwell and Conner Sebright of Holland.

It was a big weekend for the Wanamaker clan as Kyle Wanamaker won Street on Sunday and Justin Wanamaker was the Sunday runner-up to Grand Haven’s Jeff Green in Modified. Hemlock’s Jeff Burgess used a .041 package to get past Joey Harrison of White Hall, Md., for the Top ET title Sunday.

Jr. Dragster winners Sunday were Hunter Scholten of West Olive (Masters), Molly Parish of Kalamazoo (Advanced) and Rebekah Peterson of Richland (Beginner).

The JEGS/SFG event, featuring one of the biggest purses in drag racing, begins today.
