GARY HUNT’S US 131 RACER OF THE WEEK PRESENTED BY AEROQUIP

EVAN MULCHER CARRIES ON FAMILY’S RACING SUCCESS

In the Mulcher household, winning is something that is expected.  Ally Mulcher is a baseball catcher and all-around top athlete who was the 2014 Advanced Jr. Dragster champion at US 131 Motorsports Park.  Her dad, Tracy, was the Modified winner in last Saturday’s Lane Automotive Bracket Series event at the same track.

And Evan Mulcher?  In just his second year of racing, the newest star of the Mulcher Family Racing Team proved to be an expert Beginner by winning the novice Jr. Dragster class not just on Saturday, but on Sunday, too.

The youngster from Grass Lake beat Landon Hall of St. Clair Shores in the final both days.  He won on Sunday via the buyback route, relying on an average reaction time .057 of a second quicker than the overall class average.

As the weekend’s only double-up winner, he leads the mid-season driver standings by a whopping 91 points, roughly nine rounds, and is the latest of Gary Hunt’s US 131 Racers of the Week.

Congratulations, Evan, from Gary Hunt and everyone else at US 131 Motorsports Park.

ABOUT GARY HUNT

Gary Hunt is in his ninth season as the track announcer at US 131 Motorsports Park, a track on which he used to race in the brackets and Stock Eliminator.  His experience as a race car driver of some repute (he won seven points championships) has served him well behind the mike and while he often misses the thrill of competition, his “desk job” is not without its benefits.  “It’s given me the best seat in the house, which is always climate controlled,” he said.  “I never break any parts, don’t have to wait in line and I leave with a little bit of money every week.”Muchler
