BOTTOM BULB BASH AGAIN PUMPS UP THE CASH AT US 131$5,000 Top Prize Each of Three Days; $500 Each Day for Jr. Dragster Racers MARTIN, Mich. – With another purse increase in 2017, US 131 Motorsports Park’s popular Bottom Bulb Bash and Jr. Dragster Bonanza is poised to set new records in both participation and performance. The fourth annual “Bottom Bulb Bash” is scheduled Aug. 4-6 with $5,000 earmarked for the big car winner on each of three days starting Friday. “Each year we have been blessed with more cars and, as a result, we’ve been able to pay a bigger purse,” said Stephanie Peterson, Marketing/Media Relations Manager at US 131. “Our goal is to keep that going – and there’s no reason we can’t.“This year, in addition to boosting the Friday winner’s money for the big cars, we have more than doubled the winner’s purse in the Jr. Dragster division,” she said, “from $200 to $500 Saturday and Sunday, which is so exciting.”In addition to the top money, this year’s Bottom Bulb Bash will pay cash starting with the round of 32. Single day entry fee for the big cars is $150 but, with the purchase of a three-day tech card, the fee for the weekend is just $250, a $200 savings off the single day fee. Jr. Dragster entry fee is $50 for one day or $75 for the weekend. Finally, the track again will issue tech cards in two different colors to accommodate double entries with like-colors competing against one another each day until the money rounds. “Our goal is to give the racers as many opportunities as possible to race their way into the money rounds,” said General Manager Jason Peterson. “In the past, a lot of racers expressed an interest in double entries so that was something we tried for the first time last year and it seemed to work well. We always are open to new ways of doing things. That’s how you grow.”Gates will open at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 4, with time trials at 12 noon and eliminations to follow. Time trials will begin Saturday at 10a.m. and Sunday at 9 a.m.
